THE SUBARU LEGACY - 'NOT A CAR FOR WEAK-HANDSHAKE PEOPLE', ELITE MAGAZINE
The luxury lifestyle magazine, 'Elite', gave the Legacy a glowing review in their July/August edition:
"To describe the new Subaru Legacy as almost avant garde might raise a few eyebrows amongst the traditionalists. After all Subaru are renown more for outrageous performance allied to affordability rather than mold breaking aesthetics. But be prepared for the Zeitgeist aesthetics of this Subaru and as you dig a little deeper the surprises will accumulate. This is the new face of Subaru and not only is it appreciatively more handsome than its predecessors it has continued the technological advances as well to make it even more of a true driver’s car than ever. ‘What larks!’ What larks indeed await in store (with apologies to Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations...).
Retaining the legendary flat-four engine harnessed to a classic and practical four-wheel drive transmission means the new Legacy is as ever highly practical unlike the majority of eye-candy only estates on the market from the major players.

The new Legacy is longer, wider, taller, bigger in every way than the old one, and as a consequence it gains more gravitas, making much more of a statement with no apology for its extra bulk. Despite its increased size the chic styling ensures that it looks svelte and uber cool. Although large as it is parking the Legacy is no more difficult than a normal mid-sized saloon so getting that cherished antique table home undamaged will present no problems.
The traditional market for Legacy sales has been for farmers and land owners but the new target for Subaru is now perhaps a younger profile and city dwellers with an eye for a highly practical 4x4 that has the comfort and driving refinement they seek. There is also the kudos of buying into the Subarus complete with its blue-chip reputation for longevity and reliability. The new Legacy price range goes from £21,995 for the 2.0 litre iES Nav model up to £29,375 for the extremely powerful 2.5 litre SE Nav Plus flagship. Not bargain bucket prices but honest good value."
