Personal Contract Hire (PCH) FAQs

What does PCH stand for?

PCH is an acronym for Personal Contract Hire, a type of car finance agreement that allows you to enjoy the car for a period of time, then hand it back and be free to start a new agreement for another car.

How does PCH work?

With PCH all you have to do is choose the car you want and decide the number of months you want to use it for. You will make an initial payment, followed by fixed monthly payments for the duration of the contract. At the end of the agreement, you simply return the car to us. That’s it! You are then free to choose another model.

What costs am I responsible for?

Other than the monthly payments, you will have to budget for the normal costs associated with using a car. These include insurance, fuel and parking fees.

What are the benefits of PCH?

Lower monthly costs

Usually, this option will allow you to enjoy your car at a lower monthly cost than a loan or a Personal Contract Purchase agreement. But make sure to check all the options available, so you can get the contract that suits you the best.

No depreciation costs

If you choose a PCH for your car finance, you will be less impacted by the car losing value over the years.

Access to new models more often

Once the term of the agreement ends you can easily choose a new model, or the updated version of your current one. This way you can always take advantage of the latest technology available.

What are the disadvantages of PCH?

Possible extra costs

PCH agreements come with mileage limitations. If you don’t exceed the miles limit, then you have nothing to worry about. But if you have to make long distance trips frequently, make sure you check the mileage limit offered and decide if that matches your expectations. Extra costs might be applicable if the limit is exceeded.

What if I want to own the car at the end of the contract?

If you want the option to buy the car at the end of the agreement, then check out the Personal Contract Purchase option. This will allow you to choose between buying and returning the car once the term is up.

What are the options at the end of the Personal Contract Hire agreement?

You have two options at the end of your contract. You can simply hand over the car. Or you can return and renew the agreement for another car.

What Subaru models are available on a Personal Contract Hire finance plan?

The Subaru models available on PCP are the Outback, the all-new Forester and Crosstrek.

Is service and maintenance included in a PCH?

No, service and maintenance are not included in PCH agreements.

How long does a Personal Contract Hire agreement last?

The agreement duration for a Subaru Personal Contract Hire is 48 months.
