The all-electric Solterra has become the vehicle of choice for Paul Benson, Branch Director for Ewemove Sales & Lettings in Selby. He has recently hit the road in the zero-tailpipe emission vehicle, adding the distinctive décor of the ‘Ewemove’ mascot to the exterior.
The team at Subaru UK asked Paul a few questions based on his newest company vehicle, and we are delighted with his response:
Is this your first Subaru? “Yes. I had never even so much as driven a Subaru before this.”
What was it that drew you to the Subaru brand? “As an estate agent trying to establish a brand, a big part of that is the car you drive. I needed a vehicle that was practical and reliable. To me, a Subaru gives off the impression of a serious business that is successful, and values practicality, reliability, and trust”.
Why did you choose Solterra? “I am an EV convert. I can't ever see me going back to ICE vehicles so the Solterra was a no-brainer. Once I had chance to test it, I didn't consider anything else. The car is a great blend of comfort, easy driving, and some very cool gadgets that make my son think his dad has a cool taste in cars!”
How was your dealer experience? “My dealer experience was first-class. Everyone I dealt with at Unity treated me like a valued customer from day one until well beyond handover. No question, no matter how basic, was dismissed. I would recommend them to anyone.”
How are you finding going all-electric? “I've driven a low-range EV as a commuter vehicle for the last 4 years. We've always had a family ICE to use for longer journeys and on weekends. But with the Solterra, for the first time I feel like this could be the car that could suit me for both work and family needs. With the range and the spec on offer, there's no reason to reach for my old ICE crutch.”
Will your next car be an EV? “Unless technology moves on in the meantime, my next car will unquestionably be an EV.”
How do you find charging and public charging stations? “My experience with public charging has been mixed. Living in a small Yorkshire town, the facilities aren't amazing. I couldn't really imagine living here and operating an EV without the ability to home charge. But in bigger cities nearby and on long range journeys, I am constantly impressed with the facilities. Range anxiety should be a thing of the past for any Solterra owner.”
Does Solterra cater for both your business and personal needs? “I knew the Solterra would be great for business, but I hadn't factored in how great a family car it would be. Loads of boot space, brilliant for the school run and space for the entire family when we go out”.

Now nicknamed the ‘Ewebaru’ by Paul’s son Samuel, the Solterra has already started settling in as their new family car.
